Facebook Messenger Coming To iPad

By Simon Thomas on 14th January 2013

Facebook have been particularly slow when it comes to launching their applications on the iPad and that trend has continued with Facebook Messenger.

Facebook Messenger is already available on Android devices and Apple's iPhone , but is yet to become available on Apple's tablet. New rumours, reported by Techcrunch, suggest that could be about to change with Facebook expected to launch their messenger application for the iPad.

Facebook will unveil the new application at an event where the company will unveil what they've been working on. So what is the Facebook Messenger application ?

Facebook Messenger is a stand-alone application used for chatting with your Facebook friends. The dedicated application gives you quick access to Facebook chat and includes features which arn't available inside the web-version of the social network.

Recently, Facebook added voice-messaging to the application which enables users to send 60 second voice-recording to each other. The company is also already working on adding true VOIP support to the app , which will enable true voice-calling.

Facebook's event will take place on January 15th and 3G will bring you all the news as it breaks. We've previously heard that Facebook will unveil a new "Facebook Smartphone" at the event which would be truly exciting.
