Corning Gorilla Glass has become an ever-present in all modern smartphones and the good news is that a new and improved version has been announced at CES 2013.
The new version, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, is even more durable than its predecessors thanks to atomic structural improvements in the glass itself. Gorilla Glass 3 now sports something that's been branded "Native Damage Resistance".
Native Damage Resistance gives Gorilla Glass 3 improved overall durability . In particular it benefits from improved scratch resistance, reduced scratch visibility and better retained strength after being scratched.
Corning expect Gorilla Glass 3 to be incorporated into new smartphones from the middle of 2013. That could include the iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S4 and many other premium mobiles that get announced this year.
People often forgot how vulnerable mobile displayed used to be to scratches before Corning introduced their revolutionary technology. 3G are therefore very grateful for their work and hope that they continue to innovate to ensure smartphone displays get even more durable !
