Toshiba have announced the Excite X10, which is the world's slimmest tablet.

The Excite X10 comes in at just 7.7 mm thick, but that doesn't stop it having a cutting edge specification.

It comes with a 10.1 inch touch-screen with IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology that runs at a resolution of 1280*800 pixels. The Toshiba Excite X10 is driven by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and has both a 5 mega-pixel camera as well as a front-facing 2 mega-pixel camera for video calling.

It'll be available in a choice of either 16GB or 32GB of on-board memory and runs on Android Honeycomb (3.2). Toshiba also announced that they will be updating the Excite X10 to Ice Cream Sandwich shortly after its launch, which is very good news. As far as connectivity goes the Excite X10 has a HDMI port, USB port and microSD support.

The Toshiba Excite X10 is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2012 and a 16GB version will cost around $529 (£343) and the 32GB version coming at $599 (£388).

Once 3G hears anything more about the HTC Excite X10 you'll be the first to know.
