Samsung announced at CES 2012, which took place last week in Las Vegas, that they would be merging their Bada operating system with Tizen.
Samsung Bada is Samsung's own operating system that has featured in a number of its affordable mobiles, while Tizen is a Linux based operating system produced jointly by Samsung and Intel.
In effect, Tizen is a combination of MeeGo and Limo platforms and is expected to feature in a couple of Samsung smartphones launching this year. We havn't yet heard any details about what smartphones will be powered by Tizen, but it shouldn't be too long until we do.
The Tizen operating system will be supported on a number of different types of devices including tablets, smartphones and netbooks. Whether Samsung will be able to convince any other operators to use the operating system we don't know, but it'll be interesting to find out.
If 3G hears anymore news about the Tizen operating sytem we'll let you know !
