London To Have Europe's Largest Free WiFi Zone
![]() |
O2 have announced that they will be installing Europe's largest free WiFi hotspot in London.
O2 have made agreements with Westminster City ,the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea councils to install the network, which will be ready in time for the London 2012 Olympics and Golden Jubilee celebrations.
The network will begin to roll out in January 2012 in limited areas before spreading to the whole area. That means that all the residents, businesses and more importantly tourists will have access to free internet !
Although expensive this will give O2 good media coverage and will raise brand-image and brand-awareness, so 3G thinks it could well prove to be a smart move !
We're just hoping that someday we have free WiFi across the whole country, even if it is ad-supported. That is very far away, but someday we're sure it'll happen !
