The latest information circulating online suggests that LG could well be launching an Intel-powered Android smartphone !

LG are expected to showcase a new Intel powered smartphone at CES later this month, which is expected to go on sale later in the year. LG and Intel showcased a smartphone at last years CES, but it never went on sale which we hope won't be repeated this time around.

However, Intel Korea Chief Lee Hung-Sung added that he doubts LG would launch a smartphone with an Intel chipset and hinted its more likely LG will promote Intel's reference mobiles. Whatever, brand and identity the Intel Android phone carries it's expected to launch in March.

The main problems that Intel are thought to have with its mobile chips is power-efficiency , which is hugely important in the smartphone market. However, if they can solve that conundrum they could well produce the best mobile chips around !

Intel have very little experience in the mobile market, but have been producing desktop and laptop processors and chipsets for years. We don't doubt they could pull off a move into the mobile market, but it'll take a huge investment.
