RIM have been showcasing an update for the Blackberry Playbook at CES which enables Android applications to run on the tablet.

The Blackberry Playbook 2.0 OS update will potentially mean thousands of Android applications will be available to download. However, RIM are still going to require developers to submit the applications for approval before they are made available to download.

We're expecting all of the major applications to become available , as well as major games including Plants v Zombies.

There are some limitations when running Android applications on the Blackberry Playbook because you can only run one native application and one Android application at the same time. However, you can run multiple Android applications at the same time.

Another slight problem is the lack of a physical back button on the Playbook, but RIM have included a gesture to solve the problem.

The Blackberry Playbook update is expected to launch next month and once 3G gets an exact launch date we'll let you know.
