The Blackberry Playbook has received a huge price-cut in the US meaning that all models are now retailing at $299 (£192).

Previously, the 64GB Blackberry Playbook cost $699 meaning that its price has been more than halved. We expect that Blackberry will run out of stock of the top-model quite quickly in the US and then users will have to buy the lower memory models.

However, even getting the 16GB model for $299 is great value when compared to UK prices which start at £249 ($387) and go up to £409 ($640) for a 64GB model.

We just hope the savings are passed onto UK customers, because we'd be very tempted to buy one at the US prices !

The Blackberry Playbook is a great device , but the price-cuts indicate it hasn't been selling as well as Blackberry might have hoped. The Apple iPad dominates the tablet market and the Amazon Kindle Fire has been hitting the headlines due to its low price-point.

3G assumes that Blackberry hope that the latest price-cut makes their Playbook more competitive when compared to the Amazon Kindle Fire!
