Google have released their fourth quarter earnings report which showed that over 250 million Android devices have now been activated.

In just over a year the number of Android devices activated has risen by 50 million, which is a staggering figure. Earlier in the year Google also reported that over 10 billion applications had been downloaded from the Android Market and that figure has now risen to 11 billion.

The growth of Android has been a significant influence on Google's revenue increasing 25 per cent of the same quarter last year. For the first time total revenue exceeded $10 billion and we can only see Android going from strength to strength next year.

2012 will see the wide-spread adoption of Ice Cream Sandwich , which should tempt even more manufacturers and consumers to adopt the Android operating system. 3G really can't even begin to imagine how many Android devices will be activated by the same time next year, but it'll be a huge number !
