Samsung is aiming to sell over 60 million smartphones in 2011. The company see the backbone of these sales stemming from its highly popular Galaxy portfolio of phones.
The Korea Times say the 60 million target for smartphone sales in 2011 was reported to be three times greater than smartphone sales achieved in 2010 ( i.e 20 million ).
The head of Samsung's mobile business division, Shin Jong-kyun, confirmed to The Korea Times that the company also plans to introduce more touch-screen tablets in 2011.
The best selling smartphone to-date for Samsung is the Galaxy S which notched up over 10 million in sales since launch. More here on the Galaxy S sales.
``I think we did better than our previous goal of selling 270 million mobile phones in 2010. The 20 million smartphones sold gives us a foundation to build on in the premium segment too,'' Shin told Korean journalists at the sidelines of the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
