A Google spokesperson has said that Android Market is not doing as well as expected reports ITWorldCanada. This is despite over 300,000 Android phones being shipped per day and the Android operating system escalating at the sharpest rate in the US.
Apparently, a number of app developers have complained about poor sales conversion rates. Eric Chu, manager for the Android platform at Google was reported as being not happy with the number of downloads being made by visitors to Android Market, when compared to the highly successful Apple store and in particular the iPhone. Chu was at the San Francisco app developers conference.
It was further outlined by Chu, that Android Market will be revamped in 2011. Changes will be made to the way apps are included in listings and categories, the user interface, developing a more systematic approach for its recommendations engine and the introduction of in-app payments.
