Skyfire for Nokia Symbian Touchscreen Devices
![]() |
Skyfire has launched Skyfire 1.5 for Nokia Symbian 3rd and 5th Edition smartphones. The latest version of Skyfire 1.5. now means that Touchscreen phones are added to the Skyfire experience. Mobile internet speed has been improved and “smooth kinetic scrolling” has been introduced. This brings pan and flick motion when viewing mobile browser pages. Also included is full page support video playback.
The demo below shows speed tests of Skyfire against the Nokia native browser and Opera – the Skyfire comes out on top. Skyfire excels at playing back rich media content and is the only mobile browser that can playback flash video and content.
The company claim this is the most advanced mobile browser ever seen and is especially designed for Nokia Symbian 5th Edition phones and works with 3rd edition Nokia Symbian phones too. Skyfire uses “Cloud Computing technology” to boost the power of your Nokia phone and compress the mobile web, speeding it to your phone.
The Nokia Symbian 5th Edition phones are Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, Nokia 5530 XpressMusic , Nokia 5230 , Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini, and the Nokia X6 ( 32gB and 16GB ). Skyfire 1.5 for the above devices can be downloaded for free ( get.skyfire.com).
Skyfire are also offering the chance to win a Nokia N97 – see demo below for details. Closing date 20th February, 2010. Key features of the new Skyfire 1.5 are :
Auto-Rotate: Browse in portrait or landscape mode with a simple change of the device orientation.
Full screen mode: For touchscreen, browse in full screen mode with no UI elements on the screen for maximum page visibility.
Smooth Scrolling: Kinetic scrolling has been enabled to Skyfire. Pan or flick the screen to move in any direction smoothly on touchscreen.
