Nokia N900 Can Be Used As A Wi-Fi Hotspot
![]() |
Joiku, who are a mobile software developer, have announced its JoikuSoft application will be coming to the Maemo platform. The software, which is already available on the Symbian platform, enables you to turn your mobile into a Wi-Fi hotspot.
The Maemo version will mean you can use your Nokia N900 3G connectivity to share internet with your laptop and any other Wi-Fi device.
There are two versions of the software, which are the Light and premium version. JoikuSoft Light only supports HTTP/S , while the premium version enables you full internet , VPN and email capability.
The premium version of JoikuSoft is available for 15 Euros, which considering the price you pay for Mobile Wi-Fi (MiFi) from Three is great value. However, for the first 250 customers who download the software it’ll cost just 7 Euros, which is amazing value.
You can download the software here.
One should be warned however that using your Nokia N900 to setup a Wi-Fi hotspot consumes a lot of battery and is nowhere near as good as an external modem solution, such as Threes Mi-Fi. However, if your charger is present it causes no such problem or if you only want to use the Wi-Fi Hotspot for a short period.
