Nokia Forecast 500 Million Phones Sales for 2010
![]() |
Europe : Nokia forecasts that it will capture 40 percent of the global mobile phone market in 2010. This would represent approaching a 10 percent growth from 425 million in 2009 to around 500 million in 2010.
This would be spread across the three platforms Nokia builds upon – Series 40, Symbian and Maemo. It was not clear where the growth would mainly come from with regard to platforms or devices. Nokia produce, smartphones, basic phones, netbooks, feature phones and internet tablets.
The likely influx of sales for 2010 will not come from additional smartphone sales as Nokia confirmed in December that its smartphone sales for 2010 would be half that of 2009.
Nokia recently demoed an updated Symbian Operating System for Nokia devices which was three times faster than the current. We anticipate a boost in sales for Symbian based Nokia devices once this becomes available.
Nokia has recently closed a number of its Nokia Flagship stores in London and the U.S. as it restructures but continues to upgrade many of its High Street stores in a bid to boost sales.
