World : Firefox RC1 (Release Candidate 1) is now available to download for Nokia Maemo devices, which include the Nokia N900 and the Nokia N810. Previously only available in beta , the new RC1 candidate fixes bugs and adds additional functionality over the beta.

Mozilla Firefox for mobile, also called Mozilla Fennec, runs on the same engine as Firefox on your PC and is packed full of unique features.

Firefox Mobile fully utilises the touch-screen capabilities of the Nokia N900 with touch-screen gestures. You can use swipes to go forward, back, open tabs and zoom making the interface easy to use.

Mozzila Fennec features the “awesome bar”, which allows users to search for keyboards in their browsing history and bookmarks. Amazingly, weave technology will enable you to search your browsing history from your PC on your mobile.

Other features for Firefox on the Nokia N900 include a password manager, download manager and the capability to clear browsing history.

One other feature that’s been in the spotlight is the ability to share your location with websites to provide relevant local content and landmarks, which sounds interesting but can intrude on your privacy.

The Nokia N900 is the ultimate “PC in your hand” and the addition of Mozzila Firefox is certainly an important one.
