Europe / US : New testing service extends CETECOM’s range of services for mobile handset manufacturers. Ever since its foundation, it has been CETECOM’s philosophy to develop and offer services for upcoming technologies in mobile communications at an early stage.

Now CETECOM has added RF performance tests for A-GPS (Assisted Global Positioning System) to its portfolio and has therefore expanded its testing equipment by selecting Spirent Communications’ UMTS Location Test System (ULTS) ( see left ).

Thanks to this test platform CETECOM’s customers can test their devices according to the 3GPP Test Specification TS 34.171 (WCDMA RF Minimum Performance) and OMA Enabler Test Specification (ETS) SUPL V1.0.

For TS 34.171, ULTS supports all six test cases for the validated bands FDD I (GCF) and FDD II and V (PTCRB) as well as for the bands FDD IV and IX. For OMA ETS SUPL V1.0, approximately 48 test cases are available (including 19 test cases validated by GCF and PTCRB).

Beyond these minimum performance test standards, Spirent ULTS enables RF performance testing under customized real-life conditions. Furthermore the complexity of the possible test scenarios exceeds the conformance standards: whereas they require test scenarios with 6 to 8 simultaneous satellites, Spirent ULTS is equipped with up to 12 satellite channels.
