HTC Desire 816 and HTC Desire 610 unveiled at MWC 2014
HTC might not have unveiled the flagship HTC M8 (or All New HTC One) at MWC 2014, but they did unveil the first devices in a new breed of mid-range HTC smartphones which will "combine beautiful design and flagship performance for incredible value."
The HTC Desire 816 is a 5.5-inch phablet, while the HTC Desire 610 is a 4.7-inch smartphone. Both have quad-core processors, support 4G LTE and come in a wide range of colours ( black, white, orange, mild green, dark blue and grey).
Both of the Android devices will be priced competitively and will launch globally in the 2nd quarter of 2014.
The HTC Desire 816 (pictured above) has a 5.5-inch 720p display and adopts design cues from the critically-acclaimed HTC One which is combined with a new vibrant, modern colour range. You get dual-stereo speakers on the front with HTC Boomsound and support for 4G LTE.
Power is provided by the quad-core 1.6GHz processor and 1.5GB of RAM, while the rear-facing 13-megapixel camera with LED flash is great for taking stills and videos. Selfies will be great thanks to the inclusion of a 5 mega-pixel front-facing snapper and you get all the features of the Android platform combined with HTC Sense and Blinkfeed.
“The HTC Desire 816 marks the beginning of an exciting new era for the mid-tier,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC. “Incomparably beautiful to look at and hold with the technology and software to match, the HTC Desire 816 challenges everything that people expect from lower cost smartphones."
The HTC Desire 816 will be available in China from March and will be available globally in April.

HTC Desire 610 Specs
Our Verdict: We like the design and appearance of the new HTC Desire mid-rangers, which should appeal to a younger crowd. They have a decent features and the inclusion of 4G support is a real bonus, but their success depends on their prices - which are yet to be revealed.< Back
