BlackBerry Z3 and QWERTY BlackBerry Q20 sneak out

BlackBerry Z3

BlackBerry unveiled a couple of new smartphones at Mobile World Congress in what can only be described as a sub-dued affair.

The first smartphone revealed is the affordable BlackBerry Z3, which will be available in April in Indonesia. It's priced at just $200 and is fronted by a 5-inch qHD display (960×450 pixels).

The Z3 comes pre-loaded with BlackBerry 10.2.1 and is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor with 1.5GB of RAM. You also get 8GB of on-board storage, a rear-facing 5 mega-pixel camera, a 1.1 mega-pixel front-facing snapper and an FM radio.

Details about the rest of the smartphone are sketchy and more will be revealed in a launch event in April taking place in the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta. Hopefully, it'll be available in other markets because it's looking like a good value smartphone.

The second smartphone to be confirmed was the BlackBerry Q20 and details about the device are thin on the ground. However, we do know it'll have a physical QWERTY keyboard, an optical trackpad and a 3.5-inch display.

"With the BlackBerry Q20 smartphone, you’ll get the familiar hard buttons and trackpad that you want, along with the best email service, the best keyboard experience and the best battery life possible." said John Chen, Executive Chairman and CEO at BlackBerry

Sadly, BlackBerry didn't have a working model to demonstrate, or even a render for that matter, suggesting that the smartphone is still in the early stages. Even so, the release of a new BlackBerry QWERTY smartphone will be great news to the BlackBerry hardcore.

As soon as we get more news about either of the new BlackBerry smartphones you'll be the first to know.
