Vodafone Advises Apple iPhone 4 Customers Against Upgrading to iOS 6.1

Apple iOS 6

Vodafone has placed a statement on its support eForum which clearly advises all iPhone 4 users not to upgrade their smartphones to iOS 6.1.

3G.co.uk covered what new features were introduced into iOS 6.1 here “Apple iOS 6.1 Released - What Improvements Does It Bring?”. The iOS 6.1 upgrade should be considered a minor update which comes with a number of semi-useful features such as : the option to download individual tracks from iMatch, a new button to reset the "Advertising Identifier" and includes a number of security and bug fixes.

We foresee many Apple iPhone 4 users being a bit miffed that they can’t upgrade to iOS 6.1 at the current time.

However, those who have upgraded already will be more than somewhat disappointed. Vodafone say that Apple are looking into the issue which relates to an intermittent problem. The exact cause of problem has not been determined but users are experiencing problems when trying to connect to the mobile network and when receiving or making voice calls.

Until Apple fix the problem iPhone 4 users are being advised not to upgrade to iOS 6.1. Vodafone have not given any indication as to when when a “fix” will be implemented nor how customers will be advised when it is safe to upgrade to iOS 6.1.

3G will monitor the situation of post more details as soon as we learn more.
