4OD App Finally Lands On Android Devices

By Simon Thomas on 06th February 2013

Channel 4 launched their 4OD application on the iOS platform a long time ago , while Android owners have had to wait patiently for the application. The good news is that the wait is finally over because the 4OD application is now available to download on Android smartphones and tablets.

The 4OD application enables users to catchup on any their favourite shows from the last 30 days on their mobile device. E4, More 4 and naturally Channel 4  all feature on the free catchup service.

Additionally, the 4OD application includes a number of historic programmes from across Channel 4's full range of channels. The content is easy to search thanks to category and A to Z listings with shows such as Brass Eye, Derren Brown and much more included.

Now for the bad news. You still can't watch "Live TV" on the 4OD application, but to be fair it's only claiming to be an "on-demand" service. Channel 4 did unveil last last year that they'd be adding support for live streaming to the 4OD application this year , so there is still hope !

What's more disappointing is that currently you can only stream content over WiFi. We're hopeful that both 3G and 4G support will be added because most of time people are using their mobile device they don't have WiFi access.

The 4OD application is available to download on all Android devices running Android 2.2 or later. Click here to download the free application from Google Play.
