Details about the next big Windows update have been leaked online thanks to a video , meant for Microsoft's partners,  falling into the wrong hands.

Windows Phone 8 , also code-named Apollo, is the next full version of Microsoft's operating system and it aim is to bring tablets and PC's closer together. This fresh leak gives us the first real insight into what Microsoft has planned for the new operating system.

Firstly, as you'd expect,  it'll add support for smartphones with a better specification with support for quad-core devices, new screen resolutions and most importantly microSD cards. In the past Microsoft has received huge criticism for not supporting microSD cards and we're glad to see them taking notice of how the consumer feels.

Windows Phone 8 will also support  NFC  , which can be used in a number of ways including to make wireless payments using your mobile, transferring files as well as sharing content. You'll also be able to use NFC to transfer files and information across different platforms including PCs , mobiles and tablets.

Windows Phone 8 will also be very similar to Windows 8 for the desktop which will enable developers to easily convert applications from one platform to the other. It'll also mean the two can interact easier and provide a smoother experience all together.

Once 3G hears anything about Windows Phone 8 we'll let you know.
