Skype have now released a new version of their mobile application for Symbian Belle. Previously, mobiles running Symbian Belle had no way to run Skype on their smartphone.

The release of this new version is quite timely because a number of smartphones are expected to be updated to Symbian Belle on February 8th including the Nokia N8, Nokia E7 and the Nokia C6-01.

This new release of Skype supports voice-calling, instant messaging and updates the user-interface to match Symbian Belle. Overall performance has also been improved with the only downside being that video calling isn't supported.

Currently, the new version of Skype is only available in the US but 3G expect it to appear on Nokia's UK store anytime now !
