The whole of the mobile world was expecting Samsung to showcase the Samsung Galaxy SIII at the Mobile World Congress at the end of this month. However, Samsung have now officially confirmed they won't be showcasing the new smartphone at the event.

Samsung will instead be unveiling the Galaxy SIII later in the year at a separate press event. The event will take place closer to the Galaxy S3's official release, which looks set to take place in the middle of 2012.

The Samsung Galaxy SIII is expected to feature a 720p touch-screen, quad-core processor and a whopping 12 mega-pixel camera. As you'd expect its thought to run on Android Ice Cream Sandwich and will support NFC.

Although disappointing we're sure Samsung will still unveil some great devices at MWC with both the Galaxy Tab 2 and Galaxy S Advance (pictured above) both expected to make an appearance. As soon as 3G hears any news about new Samsung devices we'll let you know.
