Late last year Panasonic announced they'd be re-entering the European market and the Panasonic Eluga is the first Panasonic mobile to hit these shores in 7 years !
The Eluga, which stands for ‘elegant user-oriented gateway’ , will be the lightest Android smartphone in Europe when it launches. The ultra-slim d-shaped design ensures it weighs just 103g and has dimensions of just 123x62.0x7.8mm.
The Panasonic Eluga also meets IP57 requirements meaning its both dust-proof and water-proof up to 1 metre for a period of 30 minutes. This at least gives it some uniqueness in a very crowded smartphone market.
The specification of the Panasonic Eluga includes a 4.3 inch OLED touch-screen running at 960*540 pixels. It's powered by a 1 Ghz dual-core processor, which isn't at the cutting edge of mobile technology but is still more enough to run all Android platforms !
The Japanese companies love to include great cameras and the Eluga is no different because it comes with an 8 mega-pixel snapper. The camera include auto-focus and an LED flash and you can store your photos on the Eluga's 8GB of on-board memory.
The Eluga also supports NFC, WiFi and 3G and will launch running on Android Gingerbread (2.3.7). However, you need not worry because it'll be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich shortly after launch.
The Panasonic Eluga is likely to be showcased at the Mobile World Congress next week when its price and release date should be unveiled.
