According to the latest rumour-rounds LG are going to unveil the first Mozilla Boot To Gecko (B2G) powered smartphone at this years Mobile World Congress.
Mozilla, who make the popular browser Firefox, have been working on their mobile operating system Boot To Gecko for some time already. Like any new operating system its taken time to build, but supported applications are now appearing for the mobile OS.
The pedigree of Mozilla and their understanding of how open-source free software works should hold them in good stead when developing a mobile operating system. Apparently, B2G has come on leaps and bounds since development first began back in July.
Very little information is known about the LG B2G smartphone, but its thought that the main reason for its production is to sell to developers who are keen to start making applications for the new operating system. We assume it'll also be on sale to the general public, but that isn't the main reason behind its production.
We'll have to wait until next week when it'll be unveiled in Barcelona to learn more, but as soon as we get news you'll be the first to know.
