Nokia Halts First MeeGo Smartphone

Nokia is reported to have halted develpment of its first MeeGo smartphone say Reuters news agency.
Nokia were due to present it's first MeeGo smartphone at Mobile World Congress and it may or may not now appear. There was no news on MeeGo for Tablets but we assume the same would apply.
MeeGo came to light early in 2010 when Intel's Mobin and Nokia's Maemo linux based platforms were combined to make MeeGo. In June last year MeeGo V1.0 was released for the Nokia N900 and Notebooks.
In November, we saw MeeGo 1.1 released and then came leaked videos of MeeGo running on a smartphone and also a Tablet.
Nokia is currently rumoured to partner with Microsoft and introduce Windows Phone 7 into its future smartphones. If this were to happen it would offer a clear route to market and potentially a fast track one.
More will become known during Mobile World Congress we expect.
