Nokia and Microsoft To Join Forces ?
![]() |
The New York Times has reported that Nokia and Microsoft are expected to announce a strategic partnership on the 11th February.
The announcement is expected to lead to Nokia using Windows Phone 7 in its mobiles. Nokia has always made their own operating systems in the past , but the growth of Android and Blackberry has impacted on their market share.
The rumour is also justified by the fact that Nokia CEO stated in an interview at the end of January that Nokia might have to consider a "multiple eco-system approach". The statement is easily interrupted that Nokia need to adopt mobiles running on many different operating systems.
The rumours have caused Nokia's share price to increase more than 4 per cent since Monday.
We'll have to wait and see if the announcement proves correct, but the Wall Street Journal is certainly a reputable source.
