Android Market Goes Web Based

The Android 3.0 announcement may have overshadowed the fact that Google now has an internet based version of Android Market. The existing mobile version of Android Market received a revamp at the same time.

The new internet based Android Market is structured and presented based on the success of the iTunes site. Its live now and can be visited here http://market.android.com/

"No wires, no syncing with computers, none of that sort of nonsense. Everything just works seamlessly syncing between the two." Said Chris Yerga, Android director of cloud computing at Google.

Using a Google account, users can download apps onto their PC and they are then automatically sent to your device.

The new individual app pages have all you need in one place e.g. related apps and user ratings. When you get to Android Market there are only four choices you can make : Featured, Top Paid, Top Free and on the left a list categories. Of course, there's a search facility too.

Google has also introduced in-app payments. This lets users purchase apps directly through their apps.
