Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro Announced
![]() |
Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro is the sister phone to the new Vivaz, adding a slide-out QWERTY keyboard to the touch screen offering, delivering a user experience optimized for messaging and entertainment.
The full keyboard allows consumers to communicate quickly and efficiently via email, SMS or social networking updates. Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro also allows consumers to produce and broadcast their best experiences in HD (720p) video.
The open Symbian (S60 5th Edition) platform also allows users to personalize their entertainment experience by downloading great applications through PlayNow and the Symbian Developer Community.
As in Vivaz, Adobe Flash Lite 3.0 is integrated seamlessly into the Vivaz pro UI. The five ‘home screen’ panels first seen on Satio are extended and made more user-configurable, including the ability to select Flash Lite content such as apps, games and animations. The included Twitter app is written using Flash Lite™ 3.0. Project Capuchin support means that Java code can add powerful data logic and API support to Flash content.
The Symbian Camera API includes HD Video capability. A Camera API is also available in Java (video restricted to VGA capability).
Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro has a 3.2 inch 360 x 640 pixel TFT touchscreen with 16 million color depth. OpenGL ES 1.1 and 2.0 are supported for superb graphics. The 5.1 megapixel camera has 4x digital zoom and Sony Ericsson’s face and smile detection features. An 8 GB microSD™ card is included; up to 16GB is supported. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 802.11g and HSPA at 7.2Mbps download.
Pre-loaded applications include Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, QuickOffice (trial version), PDF Viewer (trial version), RoadSync, SMS Preview, Wisepilot navigation and World Mate. Games include Quadrapop and Rally Master Pro.
Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro features the new design philosophy ’human curvature’, which will become a consistent feature of the Sony Ericsson portfolio going forward. Designed to mirror the shape of the human body, and at the same time delivering a precise and compelling way of interacting with the phone, Sony Ericsson Vivaz™ pro is instantly recognisable.
