Skype No Longer Available On Windows Mobiles
![]() |
Skype has been available on the Windows Mobile platform for a while now, but support has now been withdrawn.
The reason Skype has been removed is that it wasn’t providing a service that the company themselves were happy with. Apparently the problem lies with the huge variety of Windows Mobile and carriers causing Skype to provide poor service or no service at all with some mobiles and networks.
It’s thought that Skype might be re-released for Windows Mobile when the company finds a suitable solution that works across the range of Windows Mobiles.
Skype is available on other platforms, which include the iPhone and Symbian and will continue to be available on these platforms.
The Skype application is available in a lite version, Skype Lite, which is available free and a premium version which includes more advanced features.
If we hear more updates on the Windows Mobile situation we’ll be sure to tell you.
