Google Nexus One Update Brings Multi-Touch Support

The Google Nexus One, which launched in the US at the start of 2010, has now received a firmware update.

The update is conducted “over-the-air” meaning users didn’t have to visit a site to download.

The main “selling point” of the new update is that it brings multi-touch support. This means the device can now support additional gestures, such as bringing two fingers together. This function is a feature of the iPhone, so it seems natural for Google to respond to their main rival.

Additionally, the update fixes the 3G connectivity issues that have long plagued the Google Nexus One. People have been unable to get 3G signals or connect to 3G at all and this update boosts the 3G connectivity, meaning the problem should now be fixed.

Furthermore, the update adds night mode to Google Maps making it easier to navigate in the dark.

The Google Nexus One will be launching in the UK in the next couple of months, with a release date still not confirmed.

In terms of specification the Google Nexus One has a 1 GHz Snapdragon Mobile CPU, 5 mega-pixel camera, 3.7 inch touch-screen and a 4GB microSD card.
