T3G Completes World’s First TD-LTE End-to-End Application Demonstration
16th February, 2009
US : T3G Technologies has completed the world’s first TD-LTE (Long-Term Evolution) end-to-end application interoperability test (IoDT), based on its Soft Modem Platform for multimode mobile devices. The T3G platform is powered by an embedded vector processor core and is capable of achieving data transfer rates of 150 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink, and supports multimode TD-LTE/TD-HSPA/EDGE as well as the LTE FDD versions of the standard.
Specifically designed by T3G to meet the TD-LTE standard, which will be required by China Mobile as its TD-SCDMA network evolves, the first end-to-end video streaming across a TD-LTE network has been successfully completed in cooperation with a TD-LTE infrastructure vendor.
This is the world’s first end-to-end TD-LTE application demonstration via a commercial eNodeB (LTE basestation) and UE (end-user terminal) prototype. As the same platform was used to demonstrate LTE-FDD during last year’s MWC2008, the success of this TD-LTE demonstration proves the multimode capability of the soft modem platform, which also supports legacy standards such as TD-HSPA and EDGE.
T3G’s strong experience and technical know-how in TD-SCDMA terminal system solution development has led to a fast breakthrough in TD-LTE development. The use of T3G’s own programmable soft modem provides the company with a significant advantage to develop TD-LTE/TD-HSPA/ EDGE multimode terminal system solutions.
The world’s largest operator, China Mobile, has chosen TD-LTE as its next-generation mobile technology, and the availability of multimode TD-LTE/TD-HSPA/EDGE terminals will be essential to ensure the smooth migration from EDGE to TD-HSPA and then to TD-LTE. T3G’s multimode terminal system solution will accelerate TD-LTE progress and has the full capability to fulfill China Mobile’s requirements. Additionally, the platform will enable handset makers to develop multimode terminals that allow worldwide roaming for consumers.
