Europe : Digital Lightwave announced that 3 Italy, has purchased additional Digital Lightwave Network Information Computer NIC 2.5G test instruments.

3 Italy is a rapidly expanding mobile telephone and mobile video operator. Headquartered in Milan, 3 Italy deployed the first 3rd Generation (3G) Mobile Telephone Network utilizing UMTS in Europe.

The NIC products provide bit-error rate testing and protocol analysis of SONET, SDH, PDH, ATM, and Ethernet as well as the latest in NextGeneration and DWDM technologies. The 3 Italy network utilizes all of these capabilities. Special ATM over SDH features enable the NIC to rapidly locate anomalies and trouble leading to a quick resolution of problems.
