New Mobile Landscape Brings Major Legal Headaches

24th February , 2005 ( see below for all today's 3G news )

Europe : BWCS Ltd today announced the publication of “Mobile and Wireless Contracts”, a major new telecoms legal handbook which is designed to help companies react to the rapidly changing world of mobile contracts.

As a storm of changes sweep over the wireless industry this vital new handbook by leading telecoms lawyer, David W Bartell will act as a lifeline to the operators, vendors and law firms who are most at risk.

According to Graham Wilde, Managing Director of BWCS “If service providers and vendors aren’t worried yet, they should be,” he claimed. “With a class action forcing a major US operator to offer consumer service level agreements, and enterprise customers becoming more demanding and seeking to negotiate new contracts, mobile operators are being severely challenged and everyone is anxious about how best to deal with this new world.”

Wilde goes on, “The good news is that this brand new handbook goes right to the heart of these major concerns. It will go a long way to assuaging most companies’ fears by providing solid, expert, painstakingly-compiled and researched analyses of carefully selected new contracts across the fast-moving mobile and wireless world.”

The 800 page handbook focuses on the leading edge in contract development – such as service level agreements for consumer mobile contracts in the US and Singapore. It also deals with the changing world of 3G contracts where, for example, 3 UK has amended its 3G consumer contracts considerably since launch. Importantly, the handbook provides model consumer and enterprise contracts which aim to be fully compliant with current EU legislation. In short, it is designed to save companies huge headaches and high legal fees as they are forced to face up to these important changes.

The author of the report, David W. Bartell, is an authority in the field, having worked as a senior commercial contracts negotiator with Cable & Wireless, Sema Group and BT (at BT he established and led the company’s International Commercial Contracts Division for four years). He is the author of BWCS’ highly acclaimed handbooks: “Global Telecommunications Contracts” and “E*Contracts”, also published by BWCS. Bartell’s most recent work, “Carrier Services Contracts”, was published in 2003 and has helped operators in over 50 countries with drafting and negotiating successful telecommunications contracts.

Priced at £2,300, “Mobile and Wireless Contracts” is available in CD and Paper form from BWCS.
