10 Million Mobile Handsets To North America

21st December, 2004

ASIA : Pantech&Curitel announced that it’s going to export 10million mobile handsets by “Pantech” brand in 2005. This is 1.6billion dollar contract which is the biggest one in mobile phone market in North America. The handsets through this contract will be supplied to twelve big operators including Verizon and Sprint.

This contract implies three important things; ?Pantech&Curitel secures the stable amount of handsets for export, ?Also, Pantech&Curitel is changing its business from ODM way to own brand with premium brand marketing, ? it can supply over 35% of total export units with high-tech premium handsets including mega pixel camera phones and EV-DO phones.

Pantech&Curitel started its business in North America since 1998 and it’s been growing continuously. It had 730million contract supplying 5million handsets through Audiovox in 2002 and more than 7million handsets will be sold in 2004.(more than 80% increased comparing to last year)

Pantech&Curitel is planning to upgrade its LA corporate to Head Quarter in North America and going to establish six more new branch offices. During 2005, more than one hundred employees will be hired and completed the business system having product planning team, R&D and A/S centers etc.

Through this huge contract, Pantech&Curitel is expected to mark more than 15% of CDMA market in North America in 2005. Especially, it’s going to make a full line-up from the low-end bar type to high-end 1.3Mpix camera phones. These will certainly be a strategic product portfolio to satisfy potential consumers in North America.
