Sony Xperia Z1

Sony have begun rolling out Android Jelly Bean (4.3) to the Sony Xperia Z1 and the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. As always when you get the update will depend on your region and which operator your smartphone is locked to - with SIM free owners getting the update first.

After updating users will enjoy all the benefits of Android 4.3 including the "Project Butter" performance and user interface enhancements. It also adds support for 'Restricted Profiles', Bluetooth Smart devices and many more new features and improvements.

The release of Android 4.3 is accompanied by an update to Sony's native applications.

The whole portfolio of native applications are updated including Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect and many more. And you also get brand new versions of Sony's media applications (WALKMAN, Album and Movies) which all benefit from cloud service integration.

Sony have also brought 'Xperia Themes' to both smartphones enabling users to customise the user-interface with downloadable UI packs from Sony Select. And owners of the Xperia Z Ultra also get 'Sony's Smart Social Camera' that lets you access “Xperia camera apps” directly from the viewfinder.

The rollout of Android 4.3 to both smartphones also opens the door for the bump to Android KitKat (4.4), which is expected to be available early next year. As soon as we get more news you'll be the first to know.
