Re-mastered Sonic The Hedgehog 2 lands on Android, complete with all-new levels
Who doesn't love Sonic The Hedgehog?
Sega of America have given Android users a real treat by releasing a remastered version of Sonic The Hedgehog 2. It's available to download now from Google Play for just £2.18 in the UK and is compatible with Android devices running version 2.3 or later.
This isn't some kind of lazy port either because it's been built from the ground up for mobile devices, featuring re-mastered graphics and audio. The whole thing is output in wide-screen and it runs at a smooth 60 frames-per-second - something the Sega Mega drive could only dream about.
It gets even better because the Android version of Sonic 2 comes with new exclusive content. That includes lost levels that never made it into the original game in the 'Hidden Palace Zone', with new undiscovered enemies and a new boss battle with Dr Eggman (or Robotnik if you prefer) himself.
You also get a whole new game mode called ‘Boss Attack mode’ where players are challenged to defeat all the game's bosses in a single life. And in this new 'definitive' version of Sonic 2 you now play as Knuckles. Got to give it to Sega they've delivered a very appealing package!
