Vastly improved Huawei Ascend P7 landing in April with 4G support
The Huawei Ascend P6 is a very decent smartphone with a slender design, a great display and excellent cameras. But it's a few months old now and lacks support for 4G LTE, but that's where its successor the Huawei Ascend P7 comes in.
Huawei are apparently already working hard behind the scenes working on the improved Huawei Ascend P7- code-named the Sophia - that will launch in April.
At least that's according to sources speaking to GSMArena, who also provided an internal document revealing the smartphones specification (pictured below).
Huawei's Ascend P6 looked and felt more premium than its price-point and the Ascend P7 looks set to be no different with the leaked document claiming it'll be made from 'Exquisite materials'.
Presumably, it'll also follow in its predecessors footsteps by being super-thin but it'll have to go some to trump the 6.2mm Ascend P6, which is currently the second thinnest smartphone in the world beaten only by the Vivo X3.
The Huawei Ascend P7 looks set to be improved across the board starting with a 5 inch full HD 1080p LCD display. A higher resolution display requires more power and the Ascend P7 will be powered by HiSilicon Balong quad-core 1.7 GHz quad-core processor that's backed up by 2GB of RAM.
Onboard memory is expected to double to 16GB and will be expandable using microSD cards, while both cameras will get massive boosts. It looks set to sport a 13 mega-pixel rear-facing camera and a staggering 8 mega-pixel front-facing snapper which delivers 'Best selfie videos' according to the internal documents.
Perhaps the most significant improvement is the addition of 4G LTE which is quickly becoming a standard feature even on mid-range smartphones. It was one of a few criticisms we had with the Ascend P6, along with its lack of NFC, the poor on-screen keyboard and a flakey headphone port.
The Huawei Ascend P7 is already shaping up to be a mid-range smartphone of note. If Huawei iron out the minor niggles we had with the Ascend P6 then we could be looking at one of the best value Android smartphones in the world.
