Huawei Ascend Mate 2 specs and pics leaked ahead of CES 2014 reveal
Huawei unveiled the original Ascend Mate at last year's CES and we've already known for some time that the Chinese company will unveil its successor, the aptly-named Huawei Ascend Mate 2, at CES 2014.
Now details and even pictures of the phablet have been leaked to the Chinese division of Engadget by an anonymous informant. The pictures of the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 arn't spectacular, but they do reveal details about the devices specification.
The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 (pictured above in white alongside the original Ascend Mate) is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of RAM and a 13 mega-pixel camera. But somewhat disappointingly it looks set to have the same 720p 6.1 inch display.
The lack of a 1080p display is slightly underwhelming on a device of this size, but presumably it's been omitted to keep down the cost of the phablet because a larger display demands more power and a bigger battery.
Hopefully, that enables the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 to launch at a similar price-point to the original, which currently retails for around £300 in the UK.
Huawei will officially unveil the Ascend Mate 2 (M200) at CES 2014 which begins on January 7th. 3G will be bringing you all the news from the event as it happens so check back next week to get the full lowdown on Huawei's phablet.
