HTC Desire 500 coming soon to Three

The HTC Desire 500 was announced in August and has now been confirmed as coming to Three although no exact on-sale date has been mentioned. Taking into account the Xmas and New Year breaks it is likely that the Desire 500 would go on-sale early in 2014.

There is no news yet of a price either. It has already launched in India for a price of Rs. 21,490 which equates to around £210 pounds for a SIM free version. This gives us a rough price estimate but thats all it is for now.

Three are calling the Desire 500 a “new value smartphone” while HTC say it’s a ‘powerful mid-range model...designed for those who demand a superior mobile experience at an affordable price’.

The Desire 500 comes with Android Jelly Bean (4.1.2) with HTC Sense and Blinkfeed. Neither HTC or Three have mentioned plans to offer an update to KitKat so far but this may come nearer the launch.

The specification features a 4.3 inch WVGA display, a Snapdragon 200 1.2 Ghz quad-core processor , 1GB of RAM, and an 8 MP camera with auto focus and LED flash.

The big miss with the HTC Desire 500 is that it is not compatible with 4G LTE and therefore won’t be sold as a 4G Ready smartphone by Three.

In the video below we see a run through of Automatic Video highlights, Beats Audio and HTC Blinkfeed . The former of these gives the user the ability to combine images into a 30 second video.

Overall, this is a very useful addition to the HTC range and gives consumers the opportunity to save hundreds of pounds over the purchase of the much higher specified HTC One.
