Apple's iPhone 5 has been named gadget of the year by Time Magazine winning the award over a host of electronic devices.
In the summary of why the iPhone 5 was chosen it was described as "one of the most artfully polished gadgets anyone’s ever built". While , it was also praised for its larger touch-screen, thinner lighter case and its camera.
We'd also highlight the inclusion of support for 4G as one of the major steps forward brought by the iPhone 5. We can't disagree that the iPhone 5 is a polished and stunning device, but gadget of the year we're not sure.
The only other smartphone featured in Time's top 10 was the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The over-sized smartphone, or phablet, came in at number 8 in the chart and we can't argue with its inclusion because the Note range has led to an industry-wide trend towards larger touch-screen displays.
Microsoft's Surface RT was the only tablet featured in the top 10 which is an great endorsement for Microsoft's tablet. The Surface is one of the best tablets on the market for businessmen , which probably explains it's inclusion in Time's Top 10 Gadgets of 2012.
