Nokia Selling Vertu Luxury Mobile Subsidiary
![]() |
Nokia are thought to be selling Vertu, which is a luxury subsidiary of the company.
In the past Vertu have produced some truly spectacular smartphones with prices that can only be afforded by the super-rich, such as the Vertu Ascent Ti Ferrari Nero Assoluto pictured above. Some of Vertu's mobiles retail for as much as $200,000, due to the high diamond and gold content.
A report by the Financial Times suggests that Nokia have appointed Goldman Sachs to offload Vertu. Vertu are thought to have an annual turnover of somewhere in the region of £175 million, so they won't come cheap.
The smartphones, which are sold in exclusive top-end retailers, are popular with Russia Oligarchs and Middle Eastern Oil Tycoons, so we wouldn't be surprised to see a company from one of those two regions take over Vertu.
3G just hopes that the stunning mobiles continue to be made, even if it just so we can dream about owning one.
