Nokia have confirmed that the Nokia Lumia 710 has now launched in Taiwan, which will be followed by Singapore, Hong Kong, India and Russia in the next week. It'll then go on to roll out across other markets in the coming weeks.
We reported earlier this month that the Lumia 710 would be hitting the UK in January and that still looks like the most likely launch date.
Nokia also reported the price for the Lumia 710 which will be 270 Euros (£230) across Europe. This is substantionally lower than the 420 Euros you need to pay for the Lumia 800, so as you'd expect the specification is slightly lower.
The Nokia Lumia 710 has a 3.7 inch WVGA touch-screen (800*480 pixels), which is the same size as the Lumia 800's AMOLED touch-screen, but is an inferior screen technology. However, the Lumia 710 has the same 1.4 GHz processor and 512MB of RAM as the Lumia 800, so the power remains unaffected.
Another area where the Lumia 710 compromises is the camera which comes in at 5 rather than 8 mega-pixels, while the onboard memory is halved down to 8GB.
However, the Lumia 710 enables you to change back covers so you can match the phone's colour to your mood, outfit or the time of year. That's one advantage it has over its more expensive brother !
When you factor-in the substantially lower price-point , the Lumia 710 doesn't look like a bad deal , especially when you consider you still get the same operating system and software.
3G will let you know when we get an exact launch date for the Lumia 710 in the UK , as well as confirmation on what operators will carry the device.
