HTC To Allow Bootloader Unlocking On Its Smartphones
![]() |
HTC have announced that they will be releasing an update that enables users to unlock the Bootloader on their smartphones.
All smartphones launched since September 2011 will get the update, which will enable users to customize their mobiles user-interface and to load custom ROMs. It's very good news for those who don't like HTC Sense, because they'll be able to remove the feature.
However, you should only unlock your Bootloader if you are an experienced user because it can lead to a number of problems , which might disable features or even stop your mobile working together.
HTC also stated that unlocking the Bootloader might invalidate your warranty and once the update is applied you won't be able to return it to its original state. Users also shouldn't get confused that this will unlock your SIM, because the bootloader is something quite different.
Devices that will support Bootloader unlocking include the HTC Sensation, HTC Flyer and the HTC Evo 3D. The update is due to launch sometime soon and once 3G hears anymore we'll let you know.
