Rockstar have announced that they've made Grand Theft Auto III (GTA III) available to download on both Android and Apple devices.

GTA III launched 10 years ago and the new mobile version has been made to celebrate its anniversary.

The game itself is an award-winning free-roaming action game and the mobile version features updated HD graphics with new  character and vehicle models. The gameplay has also been optimized for touch-screen play with new custom controls.

The Android version enables you to control the game using external game-pads which can be plugged into your devices USB port.

GTA III is only supported on selected smartphones and tablets. The list of supported Android smartphones is disappointing because it mostly features US devices and lacks a number of major mobiles, including the Galaxy SII.

Supported Android smartphones are as follows : HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x .

The supported tablets list is much more respectable and includes the : Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive.

Apple devices capable of running GTA III include the iPhone 4 & 4S , iPad & iPad 2 and all iPod Touch 4th Generation devices.

GTA III costs £3.23 and can be downloaded from the Android Market by clicking here or from Apple's App Store by clicking here. 3G recommends you download the game using WiFi because has a large file-size , especially the iPhone version.
