Google vice president Andy Rubin has announced on Twitter that Google are activating over 700,000 Android devices every day.  That's an amazing figure which has grown from 500,000 a month ago and 400,000 back in May.

With more and more Android devices becoming available the figure can only go one way, especially considering the recent launch of Ice Cream Sandwich.

Last month we reported that Android had reached 200 million activations and that it had a 50 per cent share in the smartphone market. With this kind of growth it won't take Google long to reach 300 million activations and to gain even more market share.

The strength of Android and the excellent performance of Samsung this year must have Apple worried for the first time in ages. 3G hopes that the competition continues as it ultimately means better products and lower prices for end-users.
