What Mobile Phones and Tablets Will Be Unveiled Soon: IFA 2013 and Beyond
We're only two weeks away from IFA 2013 which takes place in Berlin. It's a huge event where the mobile manufacturers turn up to show off their latest smartphones and tables. This year won't be any different and we're already excited by the prospect of having new toys to play with.
We thought we'd look at what devices the major manufacturers will reveal at the event, as well as in the months following the event. We will look at each manufacturer in turn to give you an idea of what they have in store over the coming months !
Samsung are holding a "Samsung Unpacked" event in Berlin on September 4th - a day before IFA 2013 officially begins. The big reveal is expected to the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 3 , which looks set to be the Korean companies biggest phablet of all time.
Power-packed doesn't even begin to describe Samsung's 5.68 inch monster. It's expected to be powered by a 1.8 GHz Octa-core processor backed up by 3GB of RAM. We just hope we don't get fobbed off with a quad-core version in the UK - as happened before with the Galaxy S4.
The S-Pen touting Note 3 is also thought to have a 13 mega-pixel camera, a 3200 mAh battery and will come pre-loaded with Android 4.3. It'll be available in 3G or 4G models and will come with a choice of 16, 32 or 64GB of on-board memory.
Samsung are also expected to unveil their first "Smartwatch" at the event, thought to be called the Samsung Galaxy Gear. Very little is known about the wearable computing solution and we're most interested to find out whether it acts as a standalone device or hooks up with your exisiting Galaxy device.
Sony are hoping that the early-bird catches the worm by scheduling their event ahead of Samsung's Unpacked event and IFA 2013 itself. They will reveal their next devices three hours ahead of Samsung's event and have already teased us with the launch of a new super-slim premium smartphone.
Rumours suggest they'll unveil the Sony Xperia i1 , or Honami, which will be the first camera phone launched by the Japanese company in a while. It's rumoured to have a 20 mega-pixel camera with dual-LED flash and optical image stabilisation. However, the most exciting revelation is that it'll be able to record 4k (UltraHD videos) - a new standard that has 5 times the clarity of full HD.
It'll adopt a similar design to the Sony Xperia Z and is rumoured to be powered by a quad-core 2.2 Ghz processor backed up by 2GB of RAM. It's 5 inch TRILUMINOS X-Reality display will have amazing colour accuracy and pin-point sharpness with minimal noise.
Sony are obviously gunning for the Galaxy S4 Zoom and Nokia's Lumia 1020. They have been at the forefront of mobile camera technology, so things bode well for the Sony Xperia i1.
Apple always shun the major mobile events in favour of their own events in San Francisco. This year is no different with Apple expected to unveil their next range of devices on September 10th at an exclusive event !
Apple are rumoured to be unveiling their new flagship iPhone, which will be called either the iPhone 5S or the iPhone 6. We've heard all sorts of things about Apple's next iPhone, but the most concrete rumours suggest it'll have a fingerprint sensor, faster processor , 12 mega-pixel camera and support for NFC.
For the time Apple are also expected to launch a more affordable iPhone - called the iPhone 5C. Leaked pictures of the buttons for the smartphone suggest it'll available in a much wider colour range like Apple's iPod range !
HTC have produced some great devices of late - we loved the HTC One and it's smaller brother, the HTC One Mini. At IFA 2013 they look set to complete the range by unveiling their first phablet, the HTC One Max.
HTC's phablet is rumoured to have a 5.9 inch touch-screen running at a full HD resolution (1920*1080 pixels). It'll be powered by a cutting-edge 2.3 GHz quad-core processor , have 2GB of RAM and a whopping 3200 mAh battery. We're sure the HTC One Max will be a great device, but surely it's going to overshadowed by Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 ?
LG jumped the gun by revealing their latest flagship smartphone, the LG G2, earlier this month. Therefore, you might expect them to skip IFA 2013 altogether, but that's not the case. The Korean manufacturer are expected to unveil their latest tablet at the event , called the LG G Pad.
Our information suggests it'll be an 8.3 inch tablet with a premium design : thin, lightweight and with a tiny bezel surrounding the 1080p display. A quad-core processor is expected to drive the tablet, which will be competing against Apple's iPad Mini, Google's Nexus 7 2 and Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 in an already crowded marketplace.
Many other manufacturers will unveil devices at IFA 2013 and wer are sure there will be some surprise devices revealed . 3G will be bringing you all the breaking news from IFA 2013 at it happens !
