Internal Differences Between the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S
It surely won’t be long before Apple announce the iPhone 5S, but in the meantime French site nowhereelse.fr has uncovered some new images of the inside of what is supposedly the iPhone 5S and there are a few differences between it and the iPhone 5.
As you can see there are differences in screw positioning between the two handsets, including differences in the motherboard attachment points.
This second image is far more interesting. It shows differences at the top of the frame, which have likely been made to allow the iPhone 5S to incorporate a dual-LED flash, to go alongside that 12 or 13 megapixel camera that has long been rumoured. That’s quite a change from the iPhone 5 which has a single LED flash and just an 8 megapixel camera.
There are also differences in the design of the area where the home button would be. That’s especially interesting as it’s unlikely that the size or shape of the home button will change, however it’s been rumoured that Apple would include a fingerprint scanner in the iPhone 5S, so this change could well be to accommodate that.
There’s no real evidence of a fingerprint scanner in these images- beyond the fact that the area under the home button is slightly different this time around, but we can’t think why else they would change it so it seems increasingly likely that we will be seeing a fingerprint scanner in the iPhone 5S. It also seems like just the sort of innovative feature the iPhone 5S needs to stay one step ahead of the competition.
The iPhone 5S is likely to be announced on the 10th of September, in which case we’ll soon know for sure what all of these changes are about.
