Fresh leaks reveal new iPad 5 and iPad mini cases
Apple rumour fans continue to be delighted by further leaks of photos, alleged to be the back cases of the next-gen iPad 5 and iPad mini. The latest images come via French site Nowhereelse.fr and seem to confirm previous leaks of a refreshed touchscreen that uses the same technology as in the current iPad mini.
The new touchscreen enables a reduced bevel size. The fresh images seem to indicate that is the case, as when compared to the existing iPad 4 the Apple iPad 5 would indeed be somewhat smaller both in length and width, whilst also being thinner still. The reductions in all dimensions would also indicated a corresponding drop in weight. So we're more than expecting a “smallest and lightest iPad ever” catchphrase to be rolled during its launch.
What's not obvious is if the images show a new or existing iPad mini case. It's more than likely that Apple is readying a Retina Display equipped version of the iPad mini. With all the major Android manufacturers including the latest Google Nexus 7 now sporting 1080p resolutions, you'd expect Apple to bump the resolution of its more-costly iPad mini to match or more likely surpass this.
Other leaked images show the new iPad cases in both black and silver, though if iPhone 5C rumours are also true, it's certainly possible the iPad mini is going to be available in a range of colours. The iPad launch is set to have its own event separate from the next-gen iPhone 5S , which is slated for the 10 September. That puts October as a likely timeframe for the new iPad launch.
