Earlier this month we reported on rumours that the Samsung Galaxy SIII would be getting Android Jelly on August 29th. Fresh rumours now suggest it'll get upgraded to the latest version of Google on August 31st.
The new information, reported by SamMobile, seems pretty reliable and the website even got a leaked version of the update running on their Samsung Galaxy SIII. We expect the new operating system to be showcased running on the Galaxy S3 at the Samsung Unpacked Event, which takes place on August 29th.
The update to Android Jelly Bean (4.1) will bring a number of improvements to Samsung's smartphone including support for actions in the notification bar, better home-screen widget management, improved responsiveness and better keyboard and voice typing.
As always with Android updates those with a Galaxy SIII locked to a specific operator will have to wait that bit longer to get their hands on the update. The folks at 3G will bring any new developments related to the update when we get fresh information !
